Terry H. Long, 68 years of age and a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, passed away Friday, February 3, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janice Long; five children, Bradley Long of Decatur, AL, Lori Melich of Tucson, AZ, Johnny Long of Taos, Deborah Long of Taos, and Robert Long of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren, Brittney and Kadie Long of Decatur, AL and Dustin and David Melich of Tucson, AZ. He is survived as well by his brother, Gilbert Long of Canada; and two sisters, Diane Long of Tucson, AZ and Sharon Long of Laramie, WY. Terry was born in Boulder, CO and grew up in Laramie, WY. He was a gifted musician and by age 17 director of a 20-piece dance band, "Terry Long and the Dreamers." A resident of Gallup, NM for 17 years, he was assistant state supervisor for Beneficial Finance and owner of Gallup and Grants Music Stores. Always active in the community and continuing his love of music, he implemented both the elementary music program and band programs for special needs children in Gallup, and directed the Zuni and Navajo Nation Bands. Terry was an entrepreneur, businessman, and owner of several corporations, including JLT Enterprises with his wife, Janice. He was a volunteer for SCORE the Service Corps of Retired Executives. For the last year he was a consultant at Real Turf in Albuquerque. Terry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in the Naval Air Force. Later he served in the Naval Reserves. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Knights Templar and a Shriner, and was an active volunteer in his church. Terry had a great zest for life and he will be remembered by many friends and family. A life Celebration/Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at The First Church of Religious Science, 3320 San Pedro Drive NE, in Albuquerque. 505-881-4311
