Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday February 03, 2006

Cynthia Elizabeth Olson, age 36, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006. After a long battle with pulmonary hypertension, Cyndee died while waiting for a double lung transplant at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. She is survived by her mother, Beatrice; sister, Melissa; brother, Matthew; and many other beloved family members and friends. Although her heart was physically weak, her generosity and love for others exhibited a heart that was larger than life. She spent many years at La Familia, working with children with mental disabilities. For the final year of her life, she worked as an outpatient coordinator at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital, helping patients suffering from severe pain. Perhaps her favorite activity was volunteering at Casa Angelica, a loving home and treatment facility for sixteen children with profound disabilities in the South Valley. Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Road. A Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. After the Mass, there will be a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Casa Angelica, 5629 Isleta Blvd. SW. In memory of Cyndee, please consider organ donation.
