Roger W. Callender, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Roger was born January 13, 1918 the son of Leroy and Ethel Harris Callender in Fremont, WI. He had worked for the government in the Arsenal Manufacturing business before retiring. Roger was a devoted husband, loving father, and will be greatly missed by his family. He loved animals, the outdoors, gardening, and building race cars. Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha of Albuquerque; one son, Leroy Callender and wife, Janet of Albuquerque; four daughters, Virginia Hardy of Albuquerque, Nancy McClary of Denver, CO, Linda Herrerra and husband, Dan of Albuquerque, and Barbara Silva and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; two sisters, Virginia Simmons of Denver, CO, and Rosalyn of Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2006 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Family Room at Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Pastor Bert Singleterry officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Enlow, Tony Silva, Dan Herrerra, Cody Hardy, Cory Callender, and D. J. Ray. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Roger's name to any animal organization of your choice, or to the American Diabetes Association of New Mexico, 2625 Pennsylvania NE, Suite 225, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
