Obituary for SCHROEDER

Maurice B. Schroeder, formerly of Rio Rancho, NM, died in Newton, IA on January 26, 2006. He was 90 years old. Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas Schroeder and Anna Schroeder Swain; a sister, Charlotte F. Schroeder who lived in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, NM. He is survived by his sister, Alethea L. "Lea" Hill, of Rio Rancho; two daughters, Maurine Hagele and husband, George of Hot Springs, AR, Constance Cupples and husband, Herman of Newton, IA; a son, Dwight M. Schroeder, Truth or Consequences, NM; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Maurice was born and raised in Rock Island, IL. He joined the Navy at age 17 and was stationed on the USS Saratoga in San Diego, CA, and was a hospital corpsman during WWII. He was a locksmith by trade while living in California. After his retirement he moved first to Truth or Consequences, NM, and then to Rio Rancho, NM. He was quite active at the Meadowlark Senior Center and known to many. His funeral will be Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at the Methodist Church in Newton, IA. Burial will be in the nearby National Cemetery.
