Virginia Doris Spriggs, 80, a recent resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Edgewood, NM, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2006. She moved to Edgewood from Longmont, CO. Virginia was born November 25, 1925, the daughter of Clarence and Alice Lorene Watson Smith in Sedan, NM. Virginia enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and mostly she enjoyed her family. Virginia is survived by her husband, George Emery Spriggs of Rio Rancho; two sons, Robert Emery Spriggs and wife, Regina of Peyton, CO, and Darrell Spriggs of Albuquerque; three daughters, Sue Powell and husband, Duke of Albuquerque, Shirley Bass of Albuquerque, and Evonne Roundy and husband, Kelly of Boulder, UT; one brother, Robert Smith of Dumas, TX; two sisters, Oneta Dye of Alabama and Oleta Davenport of Eureka, CA; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held for Virginia on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
