The child will bring gifts to the world, Glorious colors, music and laughter. The moon's pull will lift and lower tides Carrying mother and child closer or apart. . . But if the child is plucked like an early rose From his mother's hand and given to the winds, It is like placing the ocean into the sky. It will rain forever while the mother's belly, The very ocean, sits empty. While she may pray for heaven To lift her too into the sky She must not forget that the rain Is nothing less than her own child Still reaching down to touch her.
