Obituary for STUMP

Carley Monk Andrew Stump 1916 - 2006 Obeying the call of his Lord and Savior, Carley Stump went home to Heaven on Sunday, January 8, 2006. Carley was born on February 17, 1916 in Savannah, OK, to Charlie and Nora Stump. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva June on April 17, 1956 and his second wife, Bonnie Lou on September 11, 1998. Carley had nine siblings, he being the eldest. He is survived by, Esther Armijo; Dorothy Perry; Chester Stump, wife Thelma; Millard Stump, wife Emily; and Jimmy Stump, all of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Nettie Mae Stump, Julie Bracken, Oleta Rucker, and Bessie Hickson. When Carley was 16, he wanted a fiddle. Times were tough and money was tight, so, this enterprising young man cut down a tree. He carved and whittled his fiddle from the wood of the tree he cut down. He taught himself to play, and became so good that he was invited to play at several dances. Carley was a man of many talents. He picked cotton, worked in the shipyards, worked in the mines, worked as an ironworker, as well as an automotive paint and body man. His iron working and welding were so well known that he had several people come from all over the United States for him to build them car trailers, truck bumpers or some other item. Until his health started to slow him down, he worked every day until he was in his early eighties. Surviving are his children, Arley Stump, wife, Shirley of Bosque, NM; Sandra Raines, husband, Gordon of Albuquerque, NM; Rodney Stump of Belen, NM; Easter Warschauer, husband, Ralph of Los Lunas, NM; Guy Stump of Belen, NM; Charles Stump, wife, Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; Richard Stump of Belen, NM; Rusty Girard of Los Lunas, NM; and Jeanne McCormack of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by a son, James Adams; two grandchildren, Carl Lee Hall and Randy Hall-Warschauer; and one great-grandson, Raymond Stump. Surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He would always tell his children, "You are only as good as your word" and "Do things right the first time." He himself lived by these mottos. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Viewing and Services are to be held on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Riverside Funeral Home in Belen, NM. Viewing begins at noon to 1:00 p.m., followed by Services. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. Per his wishes, his wife, Bonnie's ashes will be in his arms when he is laid to rest. Pallbearers will be: Arley Stump, Rodney Stump, Rusty Girard, Guy Stump, Charles Stump, Richard Stump, and honorary pallbearer, Gordon Raines.
