Obituary for RHEE

Alicia B. Rhee passed away on January 6, 2006 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Durango, Mexico on May 5, 1924 to Francisco Moreno and Aurora (Hernandez) Moreno. She was the first graduate of the School of Nursing and Obsetrics of Universidad Juarez of the State of Durango, Mexico in 1949. She also earned an advanced degree in anesthetics from Universidad Autonoma in Mexico City. She was the first nurse anesthetist in Durango, Mexico. On May 4, 1951, she married Lawrence L. Rhee and they moved to Albuquerque in 1959. She worked as a recovery room nurse at the Espanola Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque until she retired in 1985. She was a devoted mother and wife who loved her family and her God. She had a heart for service and enjoyed gardening, traveling, painting, providing meals to the homeless and spending time with her grandchildren. She was proud of her U.S. citizenship, which she obtained in 1995. She was preceded in death by Lawrence L. Rhee, her husband of 54 years on October 26, 2005, her parents, a brother, Enrique Moreno and a sister, Maria del Carmen Moreno, She is survived by her children, Norman (Vera) Rhee of Albuquerque, Robert (Nancy) Rhee of Fort Wayne, IN, Lillian (Larry) Mowery of Albuquerque, and Arlene (Michael) Casparian of Overland Park, KS; and seven grandchildren, Christina Rhee, Gregory Casparian, David Rhee, Elizabeth Rhee, Rebecca Casparian, Suzanne Rhee, David Casparian; three brothers, Francisco Moreno of Pasadena, CA, Efren Moreno of Alhambra, CA, Salvador Moreno of Durango, Mexico; and two sisters, Aurora Silvia Moreno and Ana Maria Unzueta of Monterrey, Mexico. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont, NE on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow the Mass and Ennichement Service at Fairview Cemetery is at 3:30 p.m. We love you, we'll miss you and we're glad you're finally with dad.
