Christy Brothers passed away at home on January 2, 2006 after a long battle with breast cancer. Christy was Associate Rector at Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal in Edgewood, NM She is survived by her husband, Hardin Brothers; five sons: Andrew Raab, Alexander Raab, Kai Brothers (Jen MacGlaughin), Aaron Raab (Julie), and Charles Raab; two grandchildren, Madeline Cashel and Benjamin Digby Raab; her cousin, Debby Gray; her niece, Ariel Davis Williams (Kyle) and grand-nephew, Taylor Davis Williams; and also by her beloved pet companions, Bronwen, Fiona, Katie, and Maire. Mother Christy, as her parishoners called her, was especially known for her compassion and her focus on social issues including homelessness and hunger. Her friends and parishoners admired her for her sense of humor and bravery in dealing with her disease. Services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 10 a.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Mother Christy Social Justice Fund (you may send checks payable to Church of the Holy Cross, with Fund name in memo line) 367 St. Rd. 344, Edgewood, NM 87015.
