Obituary for CARPENTER

Nancy H. Carpenter, 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005. She was formerly of New York, NY. Nancy was born September 12, 1921, the daughter of Paul and Lavinia Matthews Hoffman in Millville, NJ. Nancy was a devoted music teacher and vocal coach during her residence in New York City. A member of NATS, she met Gerald, while judging a singing competition in New Jersey. Her professional singing career highlights included performing at Radio City Music Hall, New York City Opera, and other tri-state opera companies with her late husband. Retiring to Rio Rancho in 1988, Nancy continued to coach privately and formed the Rio Rancho Women's Chorale, which performed in several local venues. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald. Nancy is survived by her children, Elissa Carpenter and Mark Smith of Albuquerque, Paula Carpenter-Koch and Richard Koch of Trumbull, CT, John and Kristie Carpenter of Rio Rancho; and granddaughters, Allana, Jane, and Autumn Carpenter, and Emily Koch. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Room of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Alvin Messersmith officiating.
