Obituary for HILL

J. Howard Hill, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Friday, December 23, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth; five sons, Wayne Hill and wife, Dona of Corpus Christi, TX, Glenn Hill and wife, Charlene of Williams, CA, Max Hill and wife, Latricia, Larry Hill and wife, Patsy and Terry Hill and wife, Dawn, all of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Hill of Edgewood, and Fred Hill and Kenneth Hill and wife Kathryn, of Albuquerque; sister, Maxine Hopping of Edgewood; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Hill; brother, Don Hill; and sisters, Lois Sievert and Alta Mae Jensen. He was born October 31, 1915 at the former town of Venus (near Edgewood), NM, the eldest of the eight children of Joe B. and Mae Hill. Howard lived his early childhood on the family homestead. He moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1928. Howard moved back to Edgewood in 1935, after completing high school and one year at UNM, to begin farming. He married Margaret Ruth Myers of Mills, NM in 1939. Howard owned and operated the Highland Bean Company and the Minneapolis-Moline farm equipment dealership in Edgewood in the 1940s, in addition to area farming and ranching activities. In 1950 he and his family moved to Albuquerque where he engaged in residential building contracting while maintaining his agricultural activities in Edgewood. Howard was strong in his Christian faith. Since 1951, he was a member of the Heights Baptist Church (now merged with Highland Baptist Church). He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
