Obituary for CHAVEZ

GREGORITA. Mrs. Gregorita Chavez, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2005 with her family by her side. She opened her eyes for the last time on Christmas Eve, as if to have seen an angel taking her to the Heavenly Father - Our Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her loving children, Frederic Chavez and wife, Fedelina, Virginia Sanchez, Bernice Cordova, Rose Mary Robles and husband, Ronald, Cathy Maestas and husband, Ruben; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, step-children, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederico of 47 years; her second husband of 7 years, Florencio Baca; three sisters; five brothers; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church, member of the Legion of Mary and also Women of the Word. Gregorita, also known as Georgia, was born and grew up in Los Chavez, NM. She moved to Albuquerque after her marriage to Frederico. She was a kind, warm, loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She role-modeled virtues of love, patience, perseverance, and tolerance. Praying and quoting scriptures were a daily part of her life, which will be a legacy to her life. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwins Church by Father Bill Sanchez. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Chavez, Mark Chavez, Steve Sanchez, Ruben Maestas Jr., Kurt Ruckman and Jayson Chavira. Honorary pallbearers will be John Chavez and Ronnie Robles.
