Melanie A. Ditrich, age 61, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Dec, 21, 2005. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Parish, Belen Stitchers, and Los Lunas Senior Center Bridge Group. Melanie enjoyed walking, biking, gardening, quilting, stitching, and playing bridge. She also had a passion for playing tennis. Melanie was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her parents, Francis and Mary James. She is survived by her husband, Richard; brother, Mike James of Rotonda West, FL; two daughters, Colleen Jenkins of Maricopa, AZ, and Corey Peterson of Placitas, NM; son, Craig Ditrich of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Shanice Bruner and Kenisha Ditrich of Placitas. The family requests that donations be made, in Melanie's memory, to either the Belen Food Pantry, c/o First Baptist Church of Belen, 115 S. 4th St. Belen, NM 87002, or Relay for Life Program, at American Cancer Society, 1800 227-2345 Services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
