Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday December 22, 2005

Timoteo S. Chavez, 81, was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully passed into the hands of The Lord on Monday December 19, 2005. Tim faithfully served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, Tim served as a tank mechanic in the Army Reserves. Tim retired after 37 years as a master mechanic at Sandia Base. He was dedicated to community service as a lifetime member of the VFW Post 401 and The Disabled American Veterans. All the while Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who taught his family how to live with love, honesty, and integrity. Tim's family was the most important thing in the world to him, and family always came first. He was the king of the flea market and he touched countless lives with his silent charm. He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente; mother, Matilde; and brothers, Gregorio, Geronimo, Raul, John, and Ralph. Tim is survived by Daisy Chavez, his wife of 55 years; daughters, Pauline Gallegos and her husband, Reggie, Lorraine Y. Chavez and friend, Hasan Aysheh, and Debbie Schaefer and her husband, Matt. Tim's grandsons are Tim Gallegos and his wife, Heather, along with their children, Hannah and Dane, Paul Gallegos and his wife, Marlene, Brandon Schaefer, Ryan Schaefer, and Nathan Schaefer, all of Albuquerque. His extended family includes his sisters, Longie Romero and Viola Gonzales of California, Aurora Jaramillo and Nellie Gould of Belen, NM, Elena Mueller of Wisconsin, and Senaida Pinkard of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and friends from coast to coast. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 6 p.m. at French Mortuary on 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2005 at Prince of Peace, 12500 Carmel, at Tramway and Paseo Del Norte. Internment to follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
