Laurence Edward. Lt. Col. USAF Ret. Laurence Edward Scruggs Jr., 84, a retired USAF Aircraft Commander, died Saturday, December 10, 2005 in Fort Worth. Funeral: 1:00 P.M. Friday December 16, 2005 Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: D-FW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Laurence was born October 13, 1921 in Roanoak, Va. to Laurence Edward Sr. and Myrtle Bernice Neighbors Scruggs. He married Vivian June Richardson on July 19, 1943 in Albuquerque, NM. Laurence and his wife moved to the Cleburne area in 1995. As a couple they were very active in all orders of the masonic Temple and Shrine. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2004. Laurence was an extensive USAF Ret. Decorated Military Officer and Aircraft Commander during the WWII era who flew the B29, the B47, and others. Survivors: Daughters, Jonni Pettit and Angela of Fresno, Ca., Toni Gudat and husband Daniel of Cleburne; granddaughters, Audra Pettit-Springer and husband Daniel of Fresno, Ca., Lynn Gudat of Seattle Wa., Yvette Hoy and husband Mickey of Dallas, Danielle Gudat of Ft. Worth; great- grandson, Daniel Christopher Burgher of Seattle, Wa.; Parkersburg and Vicinity Cousins, Chuck and Sharon Beaverson, Marvin and Donna Cimmons, Janice and Herb Reif, Sandra and Jerry Frankhouser and their respective families; foster brother, Ron Workman and family; several other cousins; Albuquerque niece, Talma and Bill Perret and family.
