Matthew Steven Standish, age 33, of Sterling, VA, died at home on December 7, 2005. After battling heart disease for many years, Matt's mighty heart finally gave out. He was born on August 1, 1972 in Camp Hill, PA. Matthew was the beloved son of Lee Ann Standish and Doug Smith of Sterling, VA, and CDR (USN, Ret.) John A. Standish of Lancaster, PA; the adored brother of Alissa Standish and her husband, Christopher Booth and their sons, Zachary and Cody of Millersville, PA; "big brother" of Eric Smith of Richmond, VA; and cherished grandson of Helen W. Gothard of Albuquerque, NM. A large close, widespread family of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survives Matthew. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. Commemorating Matt's lifelong interest, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institution, Member Services, P.O. Box 23473, Washington, DC, 20026-3473 (please indicate "Memorial, Matthew S. Standish").
