Obituary for RECTOR

George Donald Rector of Albuquerque, age 71, died peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on November 29, 2005. George was born in Grant City, MO on October 10, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Flola Rector of Tome, NM and brother, Charles Rector. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hernandez Rector; his daughter, Stephanie Gutierrez-Torok; son-in-law, David; grandsons, Tyler and Parker Torok; his son, Damien Valdespino; and daughter-in-law, Tracy; his in-laws, Judge and Mrs. B. C. Hernandez; sister, Alberta Shaw of Hannibal, MO; sister-in-law, Crissi Letherer (Don); brothers-in-law, Dan Hernandez (Kate Southard), David Hernandez; nieces: Marie Kortan (Rick), Dr. Lorna Stookey (Shawn), Annette Krisco (Mark), Danielle Robison (Will), Aleah and Andrea Letherer; nephews: Bill Daniel, Dave Daniel (Jeanette), Bert Shaw (Jennifer), Jack Hernandez, and Trey Hernandez. George was a retired Math teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools, having taught at Rio Grande High School, Jefferson Middle School, McKinley Middle School, and Los Lunas High School. George wore many hats. He was a past president of the NM Appaloosa Horse Club, horse breeder, and Vice President and partner in Triple S Development Corp. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Navy veteran, having served in the Navy during the Korean War. George was a true gentleman; he was greatly loved and admired by his family and numerous wonderful friends. A remembering party is planned for February 19, 2006 when all the family can gather. Interment is to take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
