Obituary for THOMPSON

C.L. Jr. (Tommy) Thompson Jr., age 66, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on November 24th. He is survived by two loving daughters, Randi Hamilton and husband Gary, and Sandi Chavez and grandchildren Lindsay and Kendle Chavez. His father, C. Lyle Thompson, Sr.; two sisters Gloria Vasquez and Marilyn Wilson; and one brother, Ruel Thompson, also survive him. He is also survived by extended family, Bernadette Gabry and husband, Wally, and Jolene Tapia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Thompson on August 28th of this year. Tommy was born April 19, 1939 in Cordele, Georgia. He served honorably in the navy from 1957 to 1961 aboard the USS Benner. Tommy was a past president of the Jaycees, and a lifetime member of the Elks. He owned and operated Red Rock Package in Smith Lake, New Mexico for many years until recently retiring to pursue his avid love of golfing. Services will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, Albuquerque Wednesday, November 30th at 9:00am. Internment will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe the same day. Pallbearers will be Pete Granucci, Joe Granucci, Alex Alvarez, Jack Bebo, Rick Carpenter, and Gary Leloff.
