Obituary for CLICKNER

Robert E. Clickner, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at his home in Rio Rancho, surrounded by his family. Robert Clickner was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 17, 1914. After graduation from high school in 1932 he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), after which he joined the U.S. Army. During World War II, he served in the Burma-China-India Theatre. He met and courted Regina Doughterty in 1942; they were married on September 5, 1942. After the war he joined the New York City Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Battalion Chief. He retired in 1974 after 28 years of service and moved to Rio Rancho, where he became an avid golfer, square dancer, and hiker of the mountains of the Southwest. Robert loved his wife Regina more than anything; they were an inspiring example of a loving couple in a life-long marriage. He was a devoted, strong and generous father. He taught his children well by example about love and commitment to family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert is survived by Regina, his loving wife of 63 years; children, Robert P. Clickner and wife, Linda of Fairfax, VA, Patricia Falbo and husband, Russ of Rio Rancho, and Daniel Clickner and wife, Susan of Rio Rancho; eight grandchildren, Neil Culver, Jr., Kimberly McClain, Jason Culver, Robert V. Clickner, Brenna Wolf, Ben Wolf, Paul Clickner, and Miriam Clickner; and six great-grandchildren, Dylan Foster, Audrey Foster, Neil Culver III, Kaliki Culver, Julian Culver, and Ian Clickner. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Warren of Leesburg, FL; his niece, Dolly Longwell of Bertram, TX; and many more nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held, today, Tuesday, November 8, 2005 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, followed by cremation and interment of the ashes in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary Rio Rancho, New Mexico 892-9920
