Obituary for ESCALANTE

Virginia (Gina) Escalante, born September 21, 1938, went to be with the Lord October 26, 2005. Gina was a lifelong resident of New Mexico, having grown up in Las Cruces. She was retired from Ethicon in Albuquerque. Ms. Escalante was a sweet, kind-hearted lady who loved life and people. Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Lillian Escalante and her beloved grandson, Joe Paul Montoya, whom she loved with all her heart. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Padilla, and Cathy and husband, Tony Lucero, all of Albuquerque; two brothers, Roy and wife, Carol Escalante of California, and Ernie and wife, Dorothy Escalante of Albuquerque; one sister, Priscilla and husband, Rod Blanchard of Dona Ana, NM; two grandsons, Daniel and wife, Lynette Padilla and Joshua Lucero, all of Albuquerque; five great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Montoya and mother, Veronica Acosta, Icis McGarvey-Padilla, Isaiah Garcia-Padilla, Daniel Padilla, and Dominic Padilla, all of Albuquerque. Gina also leaves behind many cousins and dear friends, who will miss her cute laugh and gentle company. We love you, mama. No more pain. A Service will take place Saturday, October 29, 2005, 2:00 p.m., following a viewing at 1:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Avenue, SE, Albuquerque, NM. Cremation and burial are pending.
