Obituary for ROGERS

Richard (Rick) Leon Rogers, 49, of Albuquerque, passed away on October 7, 2005. He was born in Whitesboro, Texas, to Ruby and Leon Rogers. He married his best friend, Susan, on June 14, 1980. They lived in Texas until 1995 when they moved to Albuquerque when he became President and CEO of Sandia Area Credit Union. Rick supported the community in numerous professional, youth, and civic organizations. He was an executive in the financial industry for nearly thirty years, and a member of the Credit Union Executive Society. He was currently serving as Chairman of the Board for the Credit Union Association of New Mexico. Rick was an active member of many local, regional, and national credit union associations. He was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce Hispano and the local Chamber of Commerce. Rick was an active member of the Sandia Presbyterian Church. He was an involved coach for both of his children in YAFL and Eastdale Little League baseball and softball for many years. Rick was the most loving and caring husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Everything he did was with a passion and zest for life. He was an avid fly fisherman, skier, and University of Texas Longhorn fan. He held dear his trips to the mountains of Northern New Mexico and was proud of his Scottish heritage. The twinkle in his eye, always present, guided all of us through both everyday and special activities. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Susan and his children, Shannon and Ben. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Rogers, and is survived by his mother, Ruby Rogers, and his sisters, Joyce and Jeannette. We will all miss him dearly. Services celebrating Rick's life will be held on Tuesday, October 11th, at the Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE. The time of the inurnment services are still pending.
