Emily Sanchez Diaz, 84, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, September, 23, 2005, after suffering a sudden and severe stroke a week earlier. She is survived by one sister, Berlinda (Berley) Sanchez Lopez; nieces, Peggy Mares Torrez, Linda Lopez-Chase, Celine Lopez, Roberta Sanchez, Roxanne Sanchez, Lisa Sanchez, Kathy Sanchez, Angelic Sanchez; nephews, Frank Mares, Reginald Lopez, Ignacio Lopez III, Mark Sanchez, Bobby Sanchez Jr., Darcie Sanchez; And locally, great-nephews, David Lopez-Cox, Eric Lopez-Cox; great niece, Amanda Lopez; great-great-nieces, Miriah (Lopez) Cox, Valerie Lopez, Leandra (Lopez) Bishop; great-great-nephews, Felix (Lopez) Bishop, Jordan Lopez, and Joshua Lopez. She was active in her church, Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, and was well known in her community of Barelas. Family, prayer, and religious devotion were her strong convictions. Cremation took place at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, and interment will be at a later date, to be announced, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She will be buried alongside with her brother, John Sanchez.
