Brenda Kay Cheaqui passed away October 1, 2005. She was born in Portland, Oregon October 22, 1955 to James A. Willhite and Marilyn Dube. While Brenda's life was short, it was active and varied. She achieved a B.S. in both Economics and Nursing. Her Nursing career included recovery room, ICU and case manager positions. Her wide range of hobbies varied from hiking, teaching jazzercise, bead work and a passion for art. Brenda is survived by her father, James A. Willhite of Keizer, OR; and two brothers, James of West Chester, PA and Douglas of Warner Springs, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Dube of Portland, OR. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be placed by her close friend, companion and soul mate, Mike Slattery, at a special location she had chosen. A gathering of friends to celebrate Brenda's life was held October 8, 2005 at the home of Jean and Tim Crowder. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Animal Humane Association of New Mexico. Brenda will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She will be remembered for her love, generosity, independence and spirit.
