Obituary for SHAW

Maria Elizabeth "Lee" Shaw, 88, of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 29, 2005. She was born August 13, 1917 in Ekeren, Belgium and immigrated to New York City with her parents, Frank and Maria Van Der Linden in 1921. She moved with her two sons to Albuquerque in 1956, after the death of her first husband, Joseph Taccetta. Lee was active in the Albuquerque Rehabilitation Center Women's Auxiliary and its President in 1973. She served as an interpreter for the Belgian balloonists during the first World Hot Air Balloon Championship in 1973. She was the El Encanto Chapter of the American Business Women's Association-Woman of the Year in 1978 and its President in 1980. Lee loved dancing and was a longtime member of the Edelweiss am Rio Grande German-American Club. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Surviving Lee are her sons, Philip F. Taccetta and wife, Leslie, of Santa Fe County, and Frank P. Taccetta and wife, Carol, of Kerrville, TX; grandsons, Joseph L. Taccetta and wife, Becky, of Austin, TX, and John R. Taccetta and wife, Heather, of Kerrville, TX; grandsons, Philip J. Taccetta and Samuel R. Taccetta, both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Trent Taccetta, of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Bea Van Der Linden, of San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law, John Reilly, of Marble Falls, TX; nieces, Ann Henry, of Jonestown, TX and Maj. Carrie "Mitzi" Dodson, of Clovis, NM; nephews, John Van Der Linden, of NYC and Frank D.Van Der Linden of Georgia; and six great-nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Shaw; brother, August Van Der Linden; and beloved sister, Sophie Reilly. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE, 323-9000. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross.
