Obituary for GOLDSMITH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday October 05, 2005

Greta Goldsmith, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 12 years, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. She was a Holocaust survivor who fought her last battle with cancer with strength and dignity in the same way she always lived her life. Greta is survived by her two devoted daughters, Barbara Goldsmith and Irene Schultz; as well as her cousin, Anne Greenburg, whom she always considered her sister. She is also survived by Wallis DaCosta and Robert Stone; two grandchildren, Amy Restrepo and husband, Julian and David Jarolmen and wife, Mary Ann; and three great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Matthew, and Summer. She leaves behind many good friends who were as loyal to her as she was to them. Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Goldsmith, in 1986; and her parents, Morritz and Bella Kugelmann. She was always beautiful, elegant, vibrant, compassionate, warm, caring, and independent. Greta had a good sense of humor and made people smile when she entered a room. She gave unconditional love to those she loved, especially her family. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Greta's family would like to express their gratitude and love to Queenie Smith and Naomi Martinez, as well as Anne Scharff and Patricia DeLozier from Vista Care Hospice for the love and care they gave Greta. We know that Greta is finally at peace and she will be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah in her memory. French Mortuary, Inc. 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
