Obituary for ARCHULETA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday October 02, 2005

Candelaria Archuleta was called to be with our Heavenly Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at the age of 96. Born March 11, 1909, she died at home surrounded by her loving family. Candelaria suffered and endured much pain during many years, but she remained strong and brave and never complained. Her main concern and love was always for her family, whom she cherished and adored, and devoted her life to. Despite her suffering she still managed to smile when she saw her family, as if trying to say "Be Strong." She was the true meaning and example of the word "Mother", which she was so worthy of. Candelaria was unique, one of a kind; she was a saint who deserved to be on a pedestal. Her death has left an enormous and endless void in our hearts and lives. Our lives will never be the same without her; she was a beautiful person inside and out, and will forever be missed and loved and never forgotten. Our only consolation is that she is no longer suffering. Candelaria was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Archuleta; grandsons, Richard S. Trujillo and Michael Archuleta; and granddaughter, Deborah Ann Serna. Candelaria is survived by her daughters, Rose Eileen Trujillo, Ida Serna and husband, Rolando, Gloria Connie Vigil and husband, Nick; son, Ray Archuleta and his wife, Margie. Candelaria is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and another one about to be born that she didn't have time to see, until someday when we're all together again. Services will be held at San Ignacio Parish, 1300 Walter NE with a Rosary being recited on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rolando Serna Jr., Jimmy Vigil, Ray Anthony Archuleta, Gerald Montoya, Nick Garcia, and Thomas Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Rolando Serna Sr. and John Ross Trujillo. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008
