Obituary for HASSE

Thelma Louise Hasse, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away September, 24, 2005 after an 18-month fight. She was born in Lincoln, NE on January 12, 1934 to Richard L. and Valrea M. King. She spent her childhood years in the Palisade and Fruitvale areas of Colorado graduating from Central High School in 1952. Thelma and her husband, William S. Hasse, were married on March 15, 1952 in Boulder, CO. She loved being a homemaker and raising her two children, William Jr. and Linda. In 1976, Thelma and Bill established Hasse Contracting Company working together side by side as they built the business. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and entertaining at the family cabin near Dolores, CO. Thelma will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is treasured for her enthusiasm, optimism, patience, and thoughtfulness. She especially enjoyed nurturing her family and expressed gratitude each day for those she loved. Her valiant spirit and selfless courage in the face of adversity were examples for us all. Her open and accepting heart will be greatly missed. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth King; and a grandson, Benjamin Gallea. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William; children, William Hasse Jr. and wife, Deborah and Linda Gallea and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Roy and Elizabeth Gallea, Travis Hasse and wife, Rebecca, Sara Sparman and husband, James, Christian Hasse and wife, Brittany; great-grandchild, Rachel; brothers, Robert L. King of Grand Junction, CO and Donald E. King of Stockton, CA; sister-in-law, Margery King of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Thelma's memory to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Attn. Lorraine West.
