Obituary for ORTIZ

Larry Bruno Ortiz, 54, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 13 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 as a result of an automobile accident. Larry was born June 3, 1951 the son of Leo and Lorraine Potter Ortiz in Raton, NM. He came back to New Mexico from Painesville, OH. Larry had been a plumber for 30 years. He had served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, from 1969 to 1971. Larry was an exceptional father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching his grandsons wrestle. Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra Ortiz of Rio Rancho; parents, Leo and Lorraine of Rio Rancho; son, Sean Bruno Ortiz of Rio Rancho; daughter, Tracey Salazar and husband, Randy of Rio Rancho; brothers, Patrick Ortiz and wife, Jill of California, Kirby Ortiz and wife, Sara of Idaho, and Michael Ortiz and wife, Diana of California; one sister, Lee Ann Ortiz of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Javier and Santiago Salazar. The Rosary for Larry will be recited on Sunday evening, September 4, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho with the Mass of Resurrection on Monday, September 5, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Larry's memory to St. Thomas Aquinas, Religious Education, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
