Matthew Dale Lusk, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 26, 2005. He was born on November 11, 1970, and graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque in 1989. After graduation Matt moved to Los Alamos and started taking classes at UNM-LA. He worked at Pizza Hut, Radio Shack, and the S-Site Cafeteria. In 1997 Matt was accepted into the Laboratory's Electro-Mechanical Technician Training Program and after completing that program, he worked in LANSCE-8. Matt loved woodworking, rock-climbing, mountaineering, hiking, and backpacking. As a teenager he enjoyed building and playing with radio-controlled cars and planes and had recently taken up that hobby again. He enjoyed taking his dirt bike out for a spin and going 4-wheeling in his truck. Matt's passion, though, was his Corvette - his very favorite vehicle of all. He adored his niece, Halee, and always gave her his full attention, even if they were playing with Halee's Barbie dolls. Matt is survived by his mother, Claudette (Duncan) Wilmarth and her husband, Jim Wilmarth; father, George Lusk and wife, Janice; brother, Mike Lusk, his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Halee; and grandparents, Jennie and Jess Aldridge of Amarillo, TX, and Lois Wyche of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, Dan Wilmarth and fiancee Pam of Grand Junction, CO; Jeff Wilmarth, his wife, Diana, and their daughters, Myah and Melissa Gonzalez and husband, Isaias of Salem, UT; stepbrother, Gary Michael of Albuquerque; aunt, Jeanne Wyche, uncle, Clint Bridges and his wife, Sheila, all of Albuquerque; one great uncle, Grover Jones and wife, Jeanne, also of Albuquerque; very special friends, Bill Horn and wife, Claudette of Albuquerque and Wade Thomas of Houston; and many other relatives and friends. Matt was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Lester Lusk, Sr. and Seth Hal Wyche. A private viewing for family and close friends will be held at Strong Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque on Thursday, September 1, 2005 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Graveside at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to come and share memories of Matt.
