Dr. Ellis L. (Pete) Jr. passed away on August 11, 2005 after a short illness. Born in Columbus, OH on November 24, 1945, raised in Albuquerque, he died at his home in Columbus, NM. He was a prominent horseshow competitor and trainer prior to entering veterinary school at Colorado State University. After he graduated from CSU with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1977, he established the first mobile equine practice in Albuquerque, NM where he stayed to practice and raise his daughter for the next 16 years. He then moved to Portland, OR where he was the Senior Commission Veterinarian for the Oregon Racing Commission for 11 years. He dedicated his professional career to improving equine medicine - both for the pleasure horse and the equine athlete. His personal life was dedicated to being both a father and a friend that could be relied upon without hesitation. He retired to Columbus, NM in 2002 to enjoy his home, family and friends while continuing his propensity for horse-trading. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer; his three grandchildren, Jayms, David, and Damion; and his sister, Patricia With.
