Obituary for VEJIL

Reynoldo Vejil, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2005. Rey was born December 27, 1939 in Balmorhea, Texas the son of Ernest and Felipa Garcia Vejil. Rey earned a B. S. degree from NMSU in electrical engineering and also worked as a real estate broker and a general contractor. He found his spiritual path in 1998 when he became an ordained minister. In 1998, Rey and his wife Kim built a bed and breakfast (B & B Hacienda de Colores) with a Chapel attached. Rey took great pleasure in performing weddings and conducting deeply moving memorial services in their own chapel. Rey is survived by his parents, of Odessa, TX; his wife, Kim of Albuquerque; three daughters, Tacy, Lesa, and Suzanna; one son, Dino; one brother, George and his wife, Imelda of Santa Fe. An Open House for Rey will be held Thursday, August 11, 2005 starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Hacienda de Colores, 1113 Montoya NW. The family wishes to thank the staff of the UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center with a special thank you to Dr. Brian Shelley and Dr. Robert Foreman for their dedication in supporting Rey in his six year fight to overcome his prostate cancer.
