Obituary for JONES

Blanche Jones, born March 6, 1918, in San Antonio, TX went home to her Savior on Monday, August 1, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. She moved to Albuquerque in 1951 with her husband, Charles Jones. Blanche actively participated in her husband's Air Force career of 30 years, and after his retirement both became active in the SE Heights Neighborhood Association. Both Blanche and Charles were known for fighting zoning violations, working for legislation to protect neighborhoods, and working to stop all-night cruising around Morningside Park. Blanche served as the Association's Membership Chairwoman and continued in this role even after her husband's death. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a top sales representative for Avon. She was the recipient of Albuquerque's Best Dressed award. Both were avid supporters of Bandelier Elementary School. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Myers; grandson, Justin Myers; granddaughter, Denise Wagner and husband, Michael; and great-grandson, Devin Pettey; grandson, Kevin Kitch; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Kitch; Beloved and only surviving sister, Elfie Edwards of San Antonio, TX; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kitch, mother of Samantha. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles in 1993; and her oldest daughter, Charleen McPheeters in 1978. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Temple Baptist Church, 1613 Arizona NE, with Dr. Fred Gurule. Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at French Mortuary Chapel on Sunday, August 7, 2005, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University Blvd. location.
