Obituary for GARCIA

Myron Francis Garcia Our beloved husband and father Myron Francis Garcia, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2005, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Myron was loved and will be missed by his family as well as many friends who were touched by his life. Myron worked as an engineer at Sandia National Laboratories for twenty-nine years. He spent a great amount of his professional and personal time in various outreach groups, including the Metal Trades Council, AISES, and American Indian Outreach. While working at Sandia, he served as a union steward and an educational science advisor. In 1989, he co-founded the Dreamcatcher Science Program, which promotes the study of science and technology among Native American youth. As a member of the Pueblo of Acoma, he served as a housing commissioner. Myron was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Garcia; and brother, Everett "E. Bob" Garcia. Myron is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Carletta; and sons, Zachary and Spencer Garcia. He is also survived by his mother, Josephine Garcia; brother, Stanley Garcia; sister, Velma Garcia-Mason; nieces, Karalee Garcia, Camille Vigil, Roselle Nichols; nephew, Mathew Mason; and grandchildren, Craig Thomas Garcia, Cody, Casey, and Kinley Nichols. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, July, 31, 2005 7:00 p.m., at the Garcia residence in Acoma. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 at 9:30 a.m., in St. Anne Parish in Acomita. The chapel is located two miles south of the highway exit 102, on interstate I-40.
