Obituary for ANZURES

Alberto Chavez, 94, the last of the Cebolletanos, closed his eyes and went to sleep at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2005. He was born September 1, 1911 in the town of Marquez, of the Cebolleta Land Grant in the Territory of New Mexico to Cerillo and Paz Anzures. His life defined and was defined by the 250 year Land Grant struggle of Hispanos with United States. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Modesta Anzures; oldest son, Jesus Antonio Anzures of Albuquerque; only daughter, Marilyn Joanne Anzures Broderick of New Hampshire; son LeRoy Anzures of California; youngest son, Julian Efren Anzures of Albuquerque; ten grand children, three great-grandchildren, other family and friends who loved and will miss him. The Rosary for Alberto will be at Holy Family Catholic Church 550 Atrisco SW on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 18, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. There will be a short service Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Cebolleta Church at 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow in his beloved Cebolleta at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services 2919 4th NW Albuquerque, NM, 87107 (505) 343-8008.
