Obituary for BENNETT

Stanley S. Bennett, 82, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly in his home on Thursday, July 7, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary J. Bennett of the family home; his two sons, Stan Bennett and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque, and Rick Bennett and wife, Susan of Corrales; grandchildren, Alisa and husband, Seth Willis, Jason Bennett and wife, Melissa, Aaron, Erica, Sarah, David, and Lauren Bennett. Stanley was born in Gallup, NM and was raised in California. He served in the United States Army, and returned to Gallup where he worked for the Railway Express Company. While in Gallup he was the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 1440, which won the State Ritualistic Championship in 1962. He remained a lifetime member of the Gallup Lodge. He coached little league baseball and was active in the community. He and his wife moved their family to Albuquerque in 1963, where he was employed by Swift & Company. Stan served as president of the Meat Cutters Union working endlessly for improved wages and working conditions for the membership. He later worked for Med West Inc. He retired in 1987. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
