Pete R. Cafarelli, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Saturday, July 2, 2005. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy F. Cafarelli; daughter, Doreen C. Dowling of Moriarty; son, Peter M. Cafarelli and wife, Susan K. of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, David M. Dowling, Jenni A. Phillip and husband, Scott; and many loving friends. Pete graduated from Trinidad High School in 1935. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a WWII veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart at the Battle of Iwo Jima. His hobbies included playing pool, cards, bowling, golf, and coaching Little League baseball. Graveside services will be held at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery in Trinidad, CO. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE, 87110 or Casa Angelica, 5629 Isleta Blvd. SW, 87105.
