Obituary for WORTHEN

William M. Worthen, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away June 19, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his son, Loren H. Worthen; his daughter, Kara R. Pharris and her husband Robert; his cherished granddaughter, Kelsey Caye Worthen; his dear brother, Ellery E. Worthen and his wife Nancy; his niece, Sara R. Worthen and her husband Travis James; a brother-in-law, William P. McDonald and his wife Connie Lee. He is also survived by several cousins and many wonderful friends. Bill was a graduate of Rio Grande High School and the University of New Mexico. He created many beautiful metal sculptures and received numerous awards. His work was displayed in galleries in New Mexico and in out-of-state invitationals. Bill taught industrial arts and arts and crafts at Harrison Junior High School from 1968 to 1977. In 1977, he founded Worthen Memorials, Inc., a family-owned business. Bill's hobbies were hot rods and motorcycles. He enjoyed the mountains, but was intrigued by the desert. His joys were times spent with his friends and especially with his family. He was a gentle and patient man with a big heart. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday June 24, 2005 at the Newman Center, UNM campus, 1815 Las Lomas NE. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill may be made to your favorite charity.
