Robert G. Newman of Albuquerque passed away on June 5, 2005 after a long illness. He was 88. Loving husband of Lorraine Varon Newman; beloved father of Alan and wife Brenda Newman of Salem, OR, Elaine Newman of Albuquerque, and Lin and husband Stephen Evanko of Seattle, WA; beloved grandfather of Jonathan and wife Lisa Newman of Portland, OR and Benjamin and wife Christy Newman of Eugene, OR. Resident of Albuquerque since 1953, Robert retired from Sandia Laboratory in 1982. In retirement he was active in the Palo Duro Fishing Club. Robert's diverse talents and interests reflected the philosophy given to him by his father: Never be afraid to try something new. The family wishes to thank Dr. Samuel Goldman, Kiva and Avencio, for their compassionate hospice care. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE
