Obituary for NICHOLSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday May 27, 2005

Pablita (Polly) Nicholson died peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2005, surrounded by family. Pablita was preceded in death by her parents, Adelaida and Marcelino Pacheco; brother, Frank Pacheco; and sister, Mary Valdez. Pablita is survived by her sons, David Wayne and John Paul Nicholson; daughter-in-law, Sally; grandchildren, Ethan and Rose Scott and their mother, Susan; grandchildren, Tarah and Thomas Nicholson; great-grandson, Julian Lares; and several loving nieces and nephews. Pablita grew up in Mora, NM, and later lived in Los Alamos and Alamogordo before settling in Albuquerque. Pablita worked hard all her life, beginning with her family farm in Mora. Following graduation, she worked at Los Alamos National Labs. She was a homemaker while raising her sons, then later retired from the Social Security Administration. She loved being a grandma, and delighted in passing on traditions to her children and grandchildren such as herbal remedies and games from her youth. Her passion for gardening paid off with bountiful harvests and beautiful blooms! As she requested, cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Queen of Heaven. Private burial will take place at a later date. We would like to thank the friends and family who have responded with loving thoughts and prayers, and for all the help we've received through this difficult time.
