Obituary for PURCELL

O. Dean Purcell, age 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Saturday, May 14, 2005. Dean was born August 27, 1930 in Grey Mule, Floyd County, TX, to the late Otis and Bessie Chandler Purcell. He lived in Texas until 1954; when they moved to New Mexico. Dean worked in the oil fields in Farmington and then in the tire business in Albuquerque for many years. In 1967 Dean and Margie started Purcell Draperies, which Margie continues to operate. In his later years he was Vice President of the Screen Actors Guild for two years and President for three years. Dean enjoyed the movie business; he was in several movies and commercials and did a lot of voice overs. He was a Southern Baptist. He was preceded in death by a grandson Josiah Purcell. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margie of the family home; his wonderful children, Mike Purcell and fiance Donna Romm, and Renita Marshall and husband Robert; his precious grandchildren, Joel, John, and Kayla Purcell, Shelley Padilla and husband Nathan, Matt Marshall and wife Cortney, Katie and Josh Marshall; two great-grandsons, Zeke and Ian Marshall, with another one on the way Clark Marshall all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Violet Cooper of Lockney, TX and Bettye Love of Bedford, TX; and other beloved family members and friends. Dean will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho. Honorary urn bearers were Willie Harlan, Ben Rue, Hoppie Hopkins, Duke Woods, Roy Grundy, and Bob Ham. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all relatives and friends who were so kind and supportive during this difficult time. Special thanks is extended to those who made Memorial Contributions; sent cards, food, and prayers. Your kindness will always be remembered.
