Obituary for TALL BEAR

John William Tall Bear, 56, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died in an automobile accident on Saturday, May 14, 2005. John William Tall Bear was born November 9, 1948, the son of Paul and Mary Block Tall Bear in Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War, was an artist, received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico, was a member of the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe in Oklahoma, and taught at SIPI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Nelson Wolf Chief who was killed in the same accident. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy; son, Michael Tall Bear and Sharlene Chavez; sister, Geraldine Wells and husband Waymon; one granddaughter, Victoria; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Pastor Ed Kibbee officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors being presented by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
