Obituary for STEGER

Mary T. Steger, 76, of Albuquerque, beloved wife of 55 years of James G. Steger, was lifted by angels to the Father on Monday, May 2, 2005. She is survived by her husband, James and their four children, Mary Lynne (Steger) Paoletti and husband, Michael and their children, Marissa, Matthew and Meredith of Maryland, Jim Steger and wife, Betsy and their children, Jim and wife, Heidi and their son, Calvin, Jennifer, Katie, Vanessa and Nick, all of Albuquerque, Cindy (Steger) Shields and husband, Bob and their children, Mike and son, Jeremy, Tim, Jamie, and Danny, all of Albuquerque, and Jon Steger and wife, Shari and their daughter, Haley of Nebraska. Mary loved meeting people and embraced everyone as a friend. She was particularly fond of the waiters and waitresses she met at various New Mexico restaurants. Mary's own experience as the original hostess at Bloomingdale's Restaurant in White Flint, (Washington D.C.) was one of her most cherished memories. Mary was also proud of her accomplishments as a duplicate bridge player winning many master points over the years. Together with her husband, James, an officer in the U.S. Air Force (retired), Mary traveled to ten different states and two foreign countries. Mary will be remembered by her family and friends and by those who comforted and cared for her during her illness, not only for the gentleness, good humor and love she exhibited during her life, but also for the dignity, grace, and honor she displayed during her illness. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 4, 2005, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 5, 2005, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lomas NE at Tennessee NE. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
