Venera Richards Foy, age 95, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 22, 2005. She was born April 9, 1910 in Junction City, AR to Allen and Frances (Griffin) Richards. Her last official church home was Asbury United Methodist Church- Washington, D.C. where she was the First Lady for more than 30 years. She remained a loyal supporter of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she received her Christian foundation. Venera is survived by three grand-nieces, Sivlois Reeves and husband, Donald, Peggy Sullivan, and Lela McCleary-Bradley; one grand-nephew, Edward Sullivan; and ten great-grand-nieces and -nephews; 11 great- great-grand-nieces and -nephews; and five great-great-great-grand-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend James D. Foy; her parents, the Reverend and Mrs. Allen Richards (Mount Olive Baptist Church); 12 brothers and sisters; and one son. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Grant Chapel A.M.E., 7920 Claremont Ave. NE, with Rev. Crystal Y. Harris, Rev. Clyde Stanfield, and Rev. John D. Hill officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Austin, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of: STRONG-THORNE MORTUARY 1100 Coal Ave. SE 842-8800
