Fred H. Kendel Jr. of 3555 Greystone Road, Gainesville, GA, was born on August 3, 1942, in Belen, NM, and passed away on April 10, 2005, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Fred was a graduate of Belen High School and served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at the Mountain Ranger Camp in Dahlonega. On December 22, 1966, he married Maxine Gibbs of Gainesville, GA. For many years, Fred lived in California, working in the agricultural business as a manager of marketing relations for international and domestic markets. For the past 10 years, he was a consultant for Corona-College Heights Orange and Lemon Association in Riverside, CA, where he maintained offices in both Riverside and Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred H. Kendel Sr. and Edna Gressett Kendel. He is survived by Maxine Gibbs Kendel, wife; Louann and Bruce Gary, sister and brother-in-law, of Salt Lake City, UT; Bill and Jan Kendel, brother and sister-in-law, of Marysville, CA; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Pam Gibbs of Duluth, GA, and Tom and Bethann Gibbs of Kennesaw, GA; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Wayne Thomas of Lula, GA, and Paula and Bruce Strange of Kennesaw. He was the beloved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was a kind, gentle soul who loved life and his family. He traveled internationally, but he was happiest at home with his wife or on the lake fishing. His friendship and generously giving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
