Obituary for TURNER

Selma Turner, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, died Thursday, April 14, 2005. She was the daughter of Richard F. and Leila W. Merbeth of Mende, Germany and then El Paso, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Albert Turner; her son, William A. Turner; her brother, Dickey Merbeth; and her sister, Fran Merbeth McSwain. She is survived by her daughters, Audrey L. Nelson and Susie Turner, both of Albuquerque; two adult grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; 1st cousin, Harold and wife, Billie Hannon; and other cousins and friends in Texas and New Mexico. She was an active charter member of Monte Vista Christian Church where she was Children's Director from 1963-1965, a charter member of the Embroiders Guide of Albuquerque, a member of the Christian Women's Ministry, as well as the Defined Fitness swim group. She supported her husband's 45-year career at Mountain Bell from 1933 until his retirement. For two years she lived at Academy Montebello Independent Living and enjoyed many activities there. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE with Rev. Michelle Tatlock officiating.
