Obituary for MANIRE

Mary Helen Manire, 73, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005. She has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1956. Mary was born to Boone and Helen Killgore in Sweetwater, TX on January 5, 1932. She was predeceased by their son, Michael. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Bill Manire; her daughter, Holly; son-in-law, David Brown; and grandchildren, Austin Brown and Eric Brown of Flower Mound, TX; brother, Mark Killgore of Dallas and his wife, Joanne; brother, Joe Killgore and wife, Charlene of Maryneal, TX; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Mary came to New Mexico in 1953 to teach Home Economics at Springer High School. After moving to Albuquerque, she was a Home Economist for PNM and served as Head of that department for a time. Very active in church and civic organizations, Mary served on the boards of The Storehouse, The Chaparral Home and Adoption Agency, was President of Albuquerque Church Women United and in 1999 was awarded the Valiant Women Award by that organization. She served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and was a member of Chapter BH of PEO. For 40 years she has served her church in various capacities, including being co-editor of the church newsletter, Financial Secretary and participating in many committees. Mary loved travel, genealogy, handwork and grandchildren. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Los Altos Christian Church, 11900 Haines NE, Rev. Christopher Wilson presiding (near Juan Tabo and Indian School Rd.). Cremation has taken place. Those who wish to do so may make contributions to Los Altos Christian Church, designating them to the Mary Manire Memorial Fund, 11900 Haines NE, 87112.
