Joe M. Garcia, 78, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his home in Lemitar, NM. He was born August 14, 1926 to Abe and Grace (Lozier) Garcia in Grand Junction, CO. Joe was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict and was proud to serve his country. He taught an accounting class for a short time and was the mayor of Encino, NM for 2 years. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He can no longer see Adrienne, Cheyenne and Starla, but now will watch over them from Heaven. He loved talking to people, whether he knew them or not. He loved Spanish music, Freddie Fender songs and watching western movies. He especially liked John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. He will be remembered and loved by his family Clarita, Amanda, Regina and Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Clarita of their home in Lemitar; children: Amanda, Regina, Nevada and Sabin; brother, Felipe Garcia; sister, Hazel Fox; grandchildren: Adrienne Baca, Cheyenne Steffen, Starla Steffen, Antonio Garcia and Jaden Herisch. A Rosary was held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM with Funeral Mass immediately following. Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Burial was Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 2:00 p. m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Arrangements were under the direction of Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM.
