Obituary for GORDON

Rachel B. Gordon, 99, beloved daughter, wife, and aunt, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 9, 1905 to Rafael and Manuelita (Martinez) Baca in Socorro, NM. Everyone who met Aunt Rachel loved her. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching football. She was a parishioner at the San Miguel Catholic Church. She worked at Carrie Tingley Hospital for children in Tucumcari, NM as a nurse's aid. Rachel was a very loving aunt, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rachel was a lady with many friends and a friend to many people. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Eugene Gordon on June 7, 1992; brother, Ralph Baca and his wife, Jennie; sisters: Jennie Lopez and her husband, Pedro; and Katie Lopez and her husband, Nep Sr. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. A Rosary was recited on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Victor Jojola, Paul Lopez, Nep Lopez Jr., Rudy Marabal, Kenneth Peralta and Vicente Peralta. Honorary Pallbearers are: Robert Jojola, Allan Jojola, and Joe Montano. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 517 Hwy 60, Socorro, NM. Arrangements are under the care of Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to La Vida Felicidad-Lala Chavez and providers; Dr. Norman Reid and staff; Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation; Dr. Jesus Gonzales and staff; Heartland Hospice; Lorrie Griego and staff; and family and friends for their support during Rachel's illness and her passing.
