Obituary for ULIBARRI

Isabel Ulibarri peacefully went to be with our Lord after a two year illness, Wednesday March 16, 2005, having been born on April 1, 1925. Isabel was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gilbert R. Ulibarri, age 89, on March 9, 2005, who patiently waited in the wings for Isabel to join him into eternal glory. Isabel was also preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Lucia Serna; nephew, Daniel Romero whom she and Gilbert raised as their own; sisters, Helen Hickson, Lori Ulibarri, and Lena Davenport. She is survived by her nephew, Jerome Romero, who they also raised, and wife, Sylvia; brothers, Ruben Serna and wife, Martha, Justice Patricio M. Serna and wife, Eloise; sisters, Dulce Gomez, Rosalie Rael and husband, Robert. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Isabel and Gilbert were lifelong residents of Reserve, NM up until their illness caused them to reside at the Veterans Service Center in T or C, NM. Isabel was highly intelligent and an avid reader who lead a very active life. She honorably served two terms as Catron County Assessor and volunteered with the Senior Citizen Home Care Program in Reserve. She freely gave the gifts of kindness, love and compassion to her family and friends. These gifts are the legacy by which she will be forever remembered. A visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2005 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services 2419 4th NW, Alb. Memorial Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, on North 4th St., 2 blocks south of Candelaria, in Albuquerque, on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements for a joint Memorial Service for Isabel and Gilbert in Reserve are pending.
