Obituary for SCHENDEL

Merle Lynne Schendel, 60, an Albuquerque resident for 28 years, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005. Lynne was born on July 10, 1944 in Breckenridge, MN to Alden and Mervyl Schendel. She was a 1962 graduate of Campbell High School in Campbell, MN. She graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN and moved to Corpus Christi, TX. Lynne received certification as a medical cytotechnologist from Bexar County Hospital in San Antonio, TX. She moved to Albuquerque in 1977 and worked for Presbyterian Hospital Laboratory until the formation of TriCore Reference Laboratories. She was currently the manager of the Cytology Department at TriCore. Lynne was a long-time season ticket holder and avid supporter of Lobo athletics. She enjoyed many fun-filled events at the Pit and Lobo Stadium. She also enjoyed her summer vacations at the family cabin on Ottertail Lake in Minnesota. She will be dearly missed by her family, co-workers and friends. Lynne is survived by her sister, Sandra Backer of Charles City, IA; nieces, Kayla LaBarge and husband, Brad, Dana Williams and husband, Jeff and Jana Kraus and husband, Kevin. She also was a "great" aunt to Megan and Shannon LaBarge, Kelli and Mason Williams and Bailey and Brayden Kraus. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Michael Backer. Services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2005, at 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Chaplain Laurence Cotter officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Following services in Albuquerque, private family interment will take place in Campbell, MN. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Lobo Legacy-Lynne Schendel Endowed Fund, 1414 University Blvd, SE-South Campus, Albuquerque, NM 87131.
